Mare d'Oursi is a shallow seasonal lake west of Gorom-Gorom, protected as a Ramsar wetland. In the dry Sahel, even a modest body of water changes everything: birds gather, herders pass through, and the surrounding dunes and scrub feel less empty than they first appear.
It is a regional excursion rather than a casual stroll from town. Go only with reliable local advice and transport, especially while security in Oudalan remains uncertain.
