The Catholic cathedral of the Archdiocese of Kisangani, built in the Belgian colonial era and still the most prominent religious building in the city. The architecture is a relatively restrained neo-Romanesque, with twin red-brick towers facing onto the main boulevard.
The cathedral is at the heart of the surviving colonial-era central district, with several of the period's grand buildings — some derelict, some in continuing use — within a short walk. Sunday Mass is well attended and gives a glimpse of contemporary Kisangani; visitors are welcome but should dress respectfully.
