Kom El Sultan marks part of the ancient settlement and cult area of northern Abydos. It lacks the instant visual drama of Seti I's temple, but it helps explain Abydos as a living sacred city rather than a single isolated monument.
The remains are fragmentary, so this is mainly for travellers with a serious interest in archaeology. Go with a knowledgeable guide if you can; otherwise the mound and scattered ruins can feel opaque.
