The Temple of Hibis is Kharga's strongest single sight. Built and decorated mainly in the Saite and Persian periods, it preserves pylons, a hypostyle hall, sanctuary spaces, and walls dense with reliefs.
The setting has changed: the ancient lake and town of Hibis are gone, and farmland now surrounds the site. The temple still feels substantial, especially inside, where the decorated rooms show how far Egyptian temple culture reached into the Western Desert.
