A small concrete marker on the outskirts of Kintampo identifies the spot as the geographic centre of Ghana — exactly halfway between the country's northern and southern borders. The claim is approximate, the marker is unceremonious, and the surroundings are a roadside patch of scrub, but it makes a brief and odd photo stop on a long drive.
A more elaborate Centre of Ghana monument has been periodically planned and abandoned. Ask at the petrol station if you can't find the marker — locals will point you in the right direction.
