The largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, Ol Pejeta also has lions, cheetahs, elephants, and a chimp sanctuary for rescued animals. The conservancy covers 90,000 acres of open grassland and acacia savannah on the Laikipia Plateau, with Mount Kenya as a constant backdrop. Game drives, night drives, and guided walks are all available. The conservancy's anti-poaching work has made it one of the most carefully managed wildlife areas in Kenya.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy
A story
Ol Pejeta is home to the last two northern white rhinos on earth — Najin and Fatu, a mother and daughter. They are guarded around the clock by armed rangers. Scientists are working on IVF programmes using frozen genetic material in a race against extinction; watching them graze in the afternoon light, it is hard not to feel the weight of that.
