A small but satisfying climb: Chaimu is a cinder cone volcano just south of Kilaguni Lodge, and the hike to the rim takes about 30 minutes on a marked trail. The views from the top span the Shetani lava flow to the north and the open savanna stretching towards the Tanzanian border to the south. Go in the early morning before the heat builds. One of the few places in Tsavo West where you can get out of the vehicle and stretch your legs on foot.
