The MV Ilala is part transport, part travel story. It links Lake Malawi communities including Likoma, Nkhata Bay, and Nkhotakota, but the schedule can shift and delays are normal.
At Likoma the ferry anchors offshore, so passengers and luggage transfer by smaller boat. It can be crowded and awkward, but it is also one of the great old-fashioned arrivals in Malawi.
