Nouadhibou Mosque

The grand mosque on Avenue Médian is the most prominent religious building in the city, built in a modern Maghrebi style with two slender minarets and a green-tiled dome. The white walls glow at sunset.

Non-Muslims are not generally admitted to the prayer hall, but the exterior is photogenic and the surrounding streets — filled with tea sellers and small markets at prayer times — give a sense of daily Nouadhibou life.
