Central Market

Rosso's central market is a working market for a working town — not a tourist attraction, but an honest look at daily commerce in southern Mauritania. Stalls sell vegetables, dried fish, fabric, sandals, and the practical goods of a border economy. The mix of Wolof, Halpulaar, Arabic, and French conversations reflects the town's position at the meeting point of two countries and several cultures. Mornings are busiest, before the midday heat empties the streets.
