A private conservation reserve a few kilometres west of Port Mathurin, built around a series of limestone caves and home to one of the largest free-roaming giant tortoise populations outside the Seychelles — around 2,000 Aldabra tortoises. Guided tours take you through the cave system, which has impressive stalactites and some striking geological formations. The tortoises wander freely through the enclosure and you can walk among them. Allow two to three hours.
