Plage Quemado

Plage Quemado is Al Hoceima's town beach, and its setting is one of the most dramatic of any beach in northern Morocco. The sand curves in a tight arc at the base of the bay, flanked on both sides by sheer limestone cliffs that drop straight into the sea. The water is clear blue and sheltered from Atlantic swells, making it calm for swimming for most of the summer.

The beach fills up with locals in July and August, when Moroccan families from Fes and Casablanca arrive for the summer. Outside of those months it is pleasantly quiet. There are a handful of cafes and small restaurants along the promenade above the beach where you can get fresh grilled fish. The best view of the beach and the cliffs is from the road on the eastern headland, particularly at sunset when the limestone turns orange.
