Nike Art Gallery

The Nike Art Gallery was founded by Nike Davies-Okundaye, one of Nigeria's most celebrated textile artists and a tireless advocate for traditional Yoruba crafts. The gallery houses thousands of pieces spanning batik, tie-dye, embroidery, weaving, and beadwork, and functions simultaneously as a commercial gallery, teaching studio, and community arts centre. Nike Davies-Okundaye has trained thousands of local artists here, many of them women from impoverished backgrounds.

The collection includes examples of the adire cloth that Oshogbo became famous for in the mid-20th century, as well as contemporary works building on those traditions. The gallery is several storeys tall and spread across multiple buildings, and navigating it feels more like wandering through a working studio than visiting a formal museum. Artists often work on the premises, and visitors can watch the dyeing and weaving processes. Pieces are for sale at a wide range of prices.
