Jimeta

The newer half of greater Yola, about ten kilometres north of the old town on the south bank of the Benue. Jimeta took over as the commercial centre during the colonial period because of its position on the river and the road, and it now holds the city's main markets, banks, and government offices.

The Jimeta Modern Market is the largest in Adamawa and the main draw for visitors — a sprawling, busy ground covering everything from grain to cloth to traditional medicine. The Benue waterfront has informal fish restaurants and a few small jetties.
