Nahoon Beach is East London's classic beach day: wide sand, warm Indian Ocean water and surf around Nahoon Reef. It is popular in holiday periods, but it still feels less packaged than the beaches of bigger South African resort towns.
Come for a walk, a swim in safe conditions, or to watch the surfers. The river mouth and dunes give the beach more shape than a simple strip of sand, and the morning light is often the best time to be here.
