The Dutch Reformed Church rises over Graaff-Reinet's main street with the confidence of a much larger town. Built in the late 19th century, its stonework and spire make it the easiest landmark in the centre and a useful starting point for a walk through the historic grid.
Step inside if it is open, but the main pleasure is exterior: the church gives scale to the surrounding Cape and Victorian buildings, and it photographs best in the clear Karoo light of early morning or late afternoon.
