Cape Columbine Lighthouse

1936 lighthouse on Castle Rock, above the western edge of the Cape Columbine coast.

Cape Columbine Lighthouse stands on Castle Rock in the nature reserve, about 5 km from Paternoster. It was built in 1936 and is often described as the last manually controlled lighthouse built in South Africa.

The lighthouse itself is neat rather than grand, but the setting is excellent. Come for the sea view, the wind, and the sense of being at the hard western edge of the country.
