Cape Columbine Nature Reserve

Rocky Atlantic reserve near Paternoster, with fynbos, coves, wildflowers, and open sunsets.

Cape Columbine Nature Reserve protects the rough, granite-edged coastline west of Paternoster. It is only a short drive from the village, but the mood changes quickly: fewer houses, more wind, fynbos, boulders, small coves, and the Atlantic stretching open.

The reserve is at its prettiest in the wildflower season, usually late winter into spring. Even outside that window, it is worth the gravel road for the lighthouse, Tietiesbaai, and sunset.
