Second Beach is the classic Port St Johns beach stop, south of town and close to the road into Silaka Nature Reserve. The setting is the draw: warm Indian Ocean water, steep green slopes, and the slightly wild feeling that gives this coast its name.
It is good for walking, watching the surf, and spending a lazy few hours. Treat swimming with care. Conditions can change fast, and this part of the coast has a serious reputation for rip currents and shark incidents.
