The Kagera Museum is a community-run institution near the lakeshore displaying a large wildlife photography exhibition by photographer Dick Persson, described as the largest of its kind in East Africa. The collection documents the wildlife of the Kagera region. The museum also holds traditional tools, artefacts from the former kingdoms of Kagera, and material on the history of coffee cultivation in the region. Open daily 09:30–18:00. Entry fee applies; guided tours available.
