Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, usually just called the Settlement, is the only village on Tristan da Cunha. It sits on the island's north-west coastal plain, a narrow green strip below cliffs and the bulk of Queen Mary's Peak.
There is no grand monument here. The point is the place itself: the post office, churches, school, harbour, potato patches, and low houses of one of the most isolated communities on earth. Walk slowly and remember that this is home, not a theme park.
