Queen Mary's Peak is the summit of Tristan da Cunha, rising 2,062 metres from the ocean to a crater lake near the top. It dominates every view on the island and is the reason the settlement has so little flat land to work with.

The climb is only for longer visits, good weather, and local guidance. Conditions change quickly, the slopes are steep, and the mountain is still an active volcano. On a clear day, though, it is the island's great physical challenge.
