Volcanic Park

Memorial park beside the 1961 lava dome that forced the island's evacuation.

Volcanic Park sits beside the lava dome and flow from Tristan's 1961 eruption, just east of the Settlement. That eruption forced the whole community to evacuate to England for two years before choosing to return.

The park is quiet now, which makes the story sharper. You can walk close to the dark volcanic rock and look back at the village that survived because the lava stopped where it did.
