Lamta Archaeological Museum

Small museum near Monastir displaying finds from ancient Leptiminus and the Sahel coast.

Lamta Archaeological Museum covers ancient Leptiminus, the Phoenician and Roman settlement beneath modern Lamta south of Monastir. The museum is small, but its mosaics, pottery, inscriptions, and maritime material give useful context to a coastal town where most of the ancient city is no longer visible.

It is a good half-day addition for travellers who have already seen Monastir's ribat and want more archaeology without heading all the way to Sousse or El Jem. Combine it with a short walk around Lamta itself.
