Ksar El Ferech

Fortified granary near Tataouine, quieter and rougher than the famous ksour

Ksar El Ferech is one of the fortified granaries scattered around Tataouine, built around vaulted storage rooms known as ghorfas. It is less famous than Ksar Ouled Soltane and less polished than the best-restored sites, which can actually make it feel more immediate if you like places with rough edges.

The visit is short: walk the courtyard, look at the stacked storage cells, and notice how practical these buildings were before they became desert-photo icons. Go by car and fold it into a ksour circuit, because no single secondary ksar justifies a full day on its own.
