About 50 kilometres east of Kwekwe, the Sebakwe Recreational Park surrounds Sebakwe Dam, one of Zimbabwe's larger inland water bodies. The park is unusually quiet compared with the country's more famous reserves: zebra, kudu, impala, giraffe, and the occasional sable wander the miombo woodland, and birdlife on the lake is excellent.
It is more a place for picnicking, fishing, and slow drives than for big-five game viewing. Bring your own food and water; facilities are basic and intermittent. The drive east on the road towards Kadoma takes you through small farming country that is worth the trip on its own.
