The Jamia Mosque (Friday Mosque) is the main congregational mosque of old Ghazni, a square mud-brick structure with a domed prayer hall and an open courtyard. The current building is largely 19th and 20th century but stands on a much older foundation — Ghazni has had a Friday mosque on this site since the Ghaznavid period in the 11th century.
The interior is plain: whitewashed walls, a few framed Qur'anic inscriptions, and a low minbar. Non-Muslim visitors are typically not allowed in during prayer times but the courtyard can be seen from the entrance. As with all sites in Ghazni, access depends on the prevailing situation.
