Teknaf Wildlife Sanctuary

Long hill-forest sanctuary with elephants, macaques, birds, and views over the Teknaf peninsula.

Teknaf Wildlife Sanctuary protects more than 11,000 hectares of steep hill forest running along the peninsula. The forest is degraded in places, but it remains one of Bangladesh's important protected areas, with Asian elephants, macaques, forest birds, and a landscape that feels far wilder than the beach towns to the north.

Visits need local advice, since access and conditions change with weather and conservation work. Even a short stop gives a different view of Teknaf: not just ferry docks and border roads, but forested hills dropping toward the sea and the Naf River.
