Tatai Waterfall

Wide cascade on the Tatai River, an hour east of Koh Kong

The Tatai River cuts down out of the southern Cardamoms and tumbles over a long, low rock shelf 18 kilometres east of Koh Kong town. In the wet season the falls run as a thundering 80-metre-wide sheet of water; in the dry season they break into a series of pools you can swim in.

Get there by tuk-tuk or motorbike (about 45 minutes), or include them in a half-day river tour by boat. Several eco-lodges sit further up the Tatai River — kayaking up from the lodges to the falls is an excellent way to spend a morning. Best from January to April, when the water is calm but still abundant.
