Seac Pai Van Park covers around 20 hectares in the heart of Coloane and holds the distinction of being the largest natural green area in Macau. What was originally farmland was converted into a multipurpose nature park and given protected status in 1981. Within the park, the Natural and Agrarian Museum covers the ecology and agricultural heritage of the island.
The main draw for most visitors is the Macao Giant Panda Pavilion, a free-entry facility where giant pandas are kept alongside gibbons, flamingos, and other animals. It is a small-scale but well-kept operation, and the giant pandas — a loan from the Chinese central government — draw steady queues at weekends. Entry is free, making it one of the few significant attractions in Macau that costs nothing. The park itself is a good place to escape the casinos for an hour or two, with shaded paths winding through forest above the valley.
