Mount Qixian Hot Springs

The hot springs complex at Mount Qixian sits in the national forest park on Baoting's western edge, about forty minutes by bus from Sanya. The springs are the main draw for Chinese wellness tourists visiting Baoting: a series of outdoor soaking pools set among bamboo and forest, fed by naturally heated groundwater at consistent temperatures. The setting is considerably more atmospheric than the hotel spa pools in Sanya, and the combination of hot water and cool highland air makes it genuinely therapeutic rather than just a warm bath.

The forest park itself extends well beyond the hot springs zone and can be explored on foot along marked trails. The tree cover is dense and the birdsong consistent enough to make even a short walk worthwhile. Direct buses from Sanya Dong Bus Station run to the hot springs complex; the journey takes about 40 minutes on the expressway. Most Chinese visitors come for a half day and combine the springs with lunch at the park's canteen, which does a decent job with highland mushrooms and river fish.

A story
The hot springs at Mount Qixian sit inside a national forest park, surrounded by bamboo and subtropical trees, at an elevation cool enough to make the contrast between warm water and forest air genuinely pleasurable. The water is geothermally heated and consistent year-round — one of the few things on Hainan that does not depend on the weather.
