Dapi Mountain sits on the southern edge of Hebi and is the city's main outdoor destination. It's a modest peak by any mountaineering standard — the trails are well-graded and accessible to most visitors — but the summit offers panoramic views over the Yellow River plain that make the climb worthwhile. On clear days the landscape stretches south toward the Yellow River itself, and the agricultural patchwork of the plain below gives a vivid sense of why this valley has supported dense settlement for millennia.
The wooded slopes are a popular weekend destination for local families. Several temples dot the mountain, and the walking paths are well-maintained with rest points at intervals. The most-used trail from the city gate takes about forty minutes to the summit. The mountain is best visited in spring, when the hillside flowers are out, or in autumn, when the colours of the deciduous forest are at their peak.
