One of China's oldest aquariums, founded in 1932 in the old German quarter near the shoreline. The original building is a German-era structure with ornate ironwork; subsequent wings have been added over the decades and the complex now covers a large area along the western seafront.
The display includes sharks, rays, sea turtles, and a large tank of local Yellow Sea fish. The seahorse and jellyfish sections are particularly well done. It is a good option for a rainy afternoon or if you are travelling with children. Entrance is paid; opening hours are daily 8am–5pm, though the complex can become very crowded in summer.
