Pear Orchard Temple, also known as Sheltered Mercy Nunnery, stands above Diantou Village with a wide view across Shaxi Valley. The complex stacks four shrines on different levels, mixing Buddhist, Daoist, and Chinese folk traditions.
The temple has been restored and now also holds galleries and visitor spaces. The setting is the reason to come: old religious architecture, village roofs below, and the valley opening out beyond.
