Sideng Street is Shaxi's old core: a market street and square lined with Bai houses, old trees, and courtyard walls. It was part of the Ancient Tea Horse Road network and still gives the village its shape.
The best way to see it is without an agenda. Walk early or late, when the tour groups thin out and the old houses, shopfronts, and lanes feel like a living village again.
