The Qin Palace reconstruction is one of the most dramatic sets in Hengdian — a sweeping recreation of the first Chinese emperor's palace complex, with tiered stone terraces, ceremonial gates, and a central hall that could genuinely seat a few hundred extras in dynastic regalia. The style predates the more familiar Ming and Qing architecture of the Forbidden City by nearly two millennia, and the scale feels correspondingly more raw and theatrical.
This set remains in constant use for productions covering the Warring States period and Qin dynasty, which remain perennially popular subjects in Chinese historical television. On busy filming days the approaches to the main gate are packed with extras in bronze armour, chariots are wheeled into position, and the whole courtyard resembles a history book come alive in a slightly chaotic way. On quieter days the empty stone terraces and forested hills beyond the set give a surprising sense of place.
