The Jianfeng or "Sword Peak" summit is the highest point of Moganshan at around 530 metres, reachable by a steep stone stairway from the main villa district in about forty-five minutes of moderately energetic walking. The summit itself has a small stone pavilion and open viewing platforms, and on clear days the view extends south across the Taihu basin and north toward the industrial outskirts of Huzhou.
In practice, Moganshan spends much of its time in cloud, and the summit is often in fog. This is not necessarily a disappointment — the experience of standing in cloud on a quiet peak with mist rolling through the bamboo below is part of what the mountain offers, and the fog can shift dramatically within minutes to reveal the valley below and close again. The trail to the summit passes several good viewpoints and a small waterfall, and the descent can be varied by taking a different route back through the forest.
