Safa Masjid

Sixteenth-century mosque from Bijapur rule, set beside a formal masonry tank.

Safa Masjid is a reminder that Ponda's history is not only Hindu and Portuguese. Built in 1560 under Ibrahim Adil Shah of Bijapur, the mosque is simple, balanced, and set beside a masonry tank. It is a short stop, but a useful one because it adds another layer to Goa's inland history.
