Buddhist Monastery Ruins

Excavated Buddhist remains showing Vadnagar's early religious and trade connections.

Vadnagar's Buddhist monastery ruins are one of the clearest signs that the town was not just a later Hindu and Jain temple settlement. Excavations have found remains associated with monastic life and votive stupas, part of a wider archaeological sequence that stretches back to the early historic period.

The ruins are not as visually complete as a standing temple, so they work best after visiting the museum or reading up on the site. Their importance is in what they reveal: Vadnagar sat on trade routes and drew religious communities long before the medieval town took its present shape.
