Alappuzha Beach stretches along the Arabian Sea coast to the west of the town centre. A long wooden pier juts into the sea — it dates from the British period when Alappuzha was a functioning port. The beach is popular with local families in the evenings and at weekends.
The beach is better for walking and watching the sunset than for swimming; the currents along this section of coast can be strong. The lighthouse at the southern end is a local landmark. The promenade behind the beach has stalls selling snacks, coconut water, and local food.
