Ananthapura Lake Temple is one of Kasaragod's most distinctive religious sites. The shrine stands in the middle of a rectangular lake, reached by a small bridge, with wooded banks and low laterite country around it.
The temple is linked by tradition to Thiruvananthapuram's Padmanabhaswamy Temple, but you do not need the legend to enjoy the place. Its setting is quiet, odd, and memorable.
