Bekal Fort is the sight that makes Kasaragod worth the detour. The laterite walls spread across a headland above the Arabian Sea, with bastions, ramparts, and sea views that are far stronger than the town approach suggests.
Give it time. The fort is large enough for a proper wander, and the beach below adds the coastal drama that many inland Kerala forts lack.
