Berijam Lake is one of the quieter lake trips from Kodaikanal, set inside a reserved forest rather than in the busy town centre. The appeal is the still water, forested slopes, and the sense of being away from the main hill-station circuit.
Access is controlled to protect the area. Visitors usually need to arrange a permit from the forest office on the morning of travel, and the number of vehicles allowed in can be limited during busy periods.
