Silver Cascade Falls

Silver Cascade Falls is the first landmark you see on the main road up from the plains: a thin ribbon of water dropping about 55 metres down a granite face just as the road makes the final hairpin turns into Kodaikanal. The falls are most impressive after the monsoon, when the volume is highest.

The roadside pull-out at the base is always crowded with vendors selling fresh juice and snacks, and with visitors who stop on the way up or down. It makes a decent 10-minute break if you are arriving by car from Kodaikanal Road. The falls themselves are pretty rather than dramatic, but the setting — sheer cliff face, forest above, plains distantly visible below — works well.
