Dolphin's Nose Viewpoint looks across the Nilgiri hills and toward Catherine Falls from a projecting ridge near Coonoor. The drive passes tea gardens, and on clear days the layered hill views are the reason to make the detour.
It is best visited in good visibility. Lady Canning's Seat is another viewpoint on the way, so the trip works well as a short scenic circuit from Coonoor or Ooty.
