Kiliyur Falls lies about 4 km from Yercaud town, where the Periyaaru river tips over the edge of the Shevaroy Hills escarpment in a long, thin curtain of water. The drop is roughly 300 metres, though at the base you only see the lower portion; the full height is best appreciated from a viewpoint above. The path down through the forest takes 20–30 minutes and is uneven underfoot.
The falls are most impressive from October through January when the river runs full after the monsoon. In March and April the flow reduces substantially. There is an entry fee for the forest path and a small canteen near the top. The surrounding forest is reasonably wild — langurs are common and you may hear other wildlife in the undergrowth.
