Dhanolti is a small hill station on the Mussoorie–Chamba road, at an altitude of about 2,200 metres, surrounded by dense forests of deodar, oak, and rhododendron. It is significantly quieter than Mussoorie and Rishikesh and offers a gentler introduction to the Garhwal hills for travellers who prefer forests to crowds.
The main attraction is simply the setting: the deodar forests here are old and thick, the air is cool even in summer, and Himalayan peaks are visible on clear days to the north. An eco-park and two small government cottages provide the infrastructure for visitors. Walking trails run through the forest in various directions.
Dhanolti is about 25 km from Mussoorie on the road towards Chamba and New Tehri. Most visitors come as a day trip from Mussoorie; those staying overnight can arrange accommodation in the GMVN cottages.
