A Sassanid-era bridge south of Khorramabad, known locally as the Broken Bridge (Pol Shekasteh). Originally built in the 3rd or 4th century AD, it crossed the Khorramabad River at a point where the gorge narrows. Several arches remain standing, giving a vivid sense of how accomplished Sassanid engineers were with river infrastructure.
The bridge is a 10-minute taxi ride south of the city centre. The surrounding gorge scenery — the Zagros ranges closing in on the river — makes it worth the short trip even for travellers with limited time in Khorramabad.
