Omushi Shrine

Omushi Shrine is an old local shrine with roots said to reach back more than a thousand years. The present buildings are modern, but the shrine preserves nationally important cultural figures and keeps a sacred spring, Ishigami-no-mizu, that locals still use for ritual washing.

It is a quiet stop rather than a major temple complex. Visit if you are exploring Echizen beyond the paper and knife craft villages and want a small piece of local religious history.
