Hakuba Happo-one

Hakuba's best-known ski area, with Olympic downhill terrain and summer alpine access toward Happo Pond.

Hakuba Happo-one is the valley's headline ski area, famous for long runs, serious vertical, and terrain used during the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. It is one of the places where Hakuba feels closest to the Alps in spirit: steep, snowy, and busy with people who came to ski hard.

Outside winter, the lifts turn Happo-one into an alpine walking route toward Happo Pond, where the Northern Japan Alps reflect in still water when the weather cooperates.
